Temperature Surges Across Most Areas Despite Predictions of Cloudy Weather and Rainfall in Jammu and Kashmir

Srinagar, June 4: Despite forecasts of partly to generally cloudy weather with intermittent light to moderate rain in the coming days, most places in Jammu and Kashmir witnessed an increase in night temperatures on Tuesday. A meteorological department official stated that until June 7, the weather is expected to remain partly to generally cloudy, with intermittent light to moderate rain or thunder at many locations. Additionally, gusty winds are likely at a few places, with the possibility of moderate intensity showers in some areas for brief periods. The department has advised farmers to suspend farm operations during June 5 and 6 due to the predicted weather conditions. From June 8-9, partly to generally cloudy weather is expected, followed by generally dry conditions from June 10-13. Regarding temperatures, the official reported that Srinagar recorded a low of 14.8°C, slightly higher than the previous night’s 14.4°C, and 2.3°C above the normal temperature for this time of year in the summer capital of Jammu and Kashmir. Qazigund registered a minimum temperature of 12.2°C, up from the previous night’s 10.4°C, and 1.1°C above the normal temperature for the gateway town of Kashmir. Pahalgam recorded a low of 8.1°C, compared to 7.1°C on the previous night, which was 1.5°C above normal for the famous resort in south Kashmir. Kokernag, also in south Kashmir, recorded a minimum temperature of 12.8°C, down from 13.2°C, but still 1.7°C above normal. Kupwara town saw a minimum temperature of 11.7°C, slightly higher than the previous night’s 10.8°C, and above normal by 0.7°C. Gulmarg recorded a minimum temperature of 10.6°C, up from 9.5°C on the previous night, exceeding the normal temperature by 3.0°C for the world-famous skiing resort in north Kashmir’s Baramulla district. In Jammu, the official reported a low of 23.7°C, down from 25.6°C the previous night, and 1.8°C below normal for the winter capital of Jammu and Kashmir. Banihal recorded a low of 12.2°C, Batote 15.8°C, and Bhaderwah 14.4°C.
