Rahul Surpasses Sonia’s 2019 Victory in Rae Bareli with 2.22 Lakh Vote Lead

Lucknow, Jun 4: Congress leader Rahul Gandhi has exceeded Sonia Gandhi’s 2019 victory margin in the Rae Bareli constituency, now leading by 227,535 votes against his closest rival, BJP’s Dinesh Pratap Singh.

This marks the first time Rahul Gandhi has contested from the Rae Bareli seat. He has maintained a lead over Singh, who is also a minister in the Yogi Adityanath cabinet, since the beginning of the vote count.

In 2019, former Congress president Sonia Gandhi won the Rae Bareli seat with a margin of 167,178 votes against Dinesh Pratap Singh. Rahul Gandhi previously represented the Amethi Lok Sabha seat from 2004 to 2019. In the 2019 general election, he lost Amethi to BJP’s Smriti Irani but secured a seat in the Lok Sabha from Wayanad, Kerala.
