BJP Leaders Convene Ahead of Lok Sabha Poll Counting

New Delhi : Senior BJP leaders, including Union ministers Amit Shah and Rajnath Singh, convened a meeting on Monday, a day before the announcement of Lok Sabha poll results. The gathering aimed to assess the current political landscape, particularly in light of exit polls indicating a significant victory for the BJP-led alliance. Meanwhile, the opposition INDIA bloc continued its series of meetings, disputing the forecast and maintaining its assertion that the Narendra Modi-led government is facing an imminent downfall.

Although no official statement was issued by the BJP regarding the meeting, reports suggest that party president J P Nadda also participated. It is believed that the senior leaders deliberated on strategies to counter the opposition effectively.

On Sunday, a BJP delegation approached the Elections Commission, alleging that the Congress and its allies were attempting to undermine the integrity of India’s electoral process. The delegation urged the poll body to take measures to prevent any instances of “violence and unrest” during the vote counting for the Lok Sabha polls on June 4.

Leaders from the INDIA bloc have pressed the EC to prioritize the counting of postal ballots and declare their results before revealing the outcome of the Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs). They emphasized the importance of clear guidelines from the poll panel regarding the counting process and urged strict implementation of these guidelines.
