Varanasi Bomb Scare Turns Out to be Hoax

A Varanasi-bound IndiGo flight encountered a bomb threat early Tuesday morning at the New Delhi airport, prompting a thorough search operation. However, the alarm turned out to be a hoax, authorities confirmed.

According to police reports, the bomb scare arose when a piece of paper with the phrase “bomb @5.30” was discovered in the lavatory of the IndiGo flight scheduled for Varanasi. Upon receiving the information around 5 am, all 176 passengers and staff onboard were swiftly evacuated as a precautionary measure.

Following a comprehensive inspection of the aircraft, no suspicious items were found, confirming it to be a false alarm. The pilot had discovered the threatening note while the flight, identified as Indigo 6E2211, was preparing for departure from the Indira Gandhi International Airport.

Authorities promptly launched a security operation in response to the pilot’s alert, adhering to standard protocols. The aircraft was moved to a remote bay, and passengers were safely evacuated through emergency exits.

An IndiGo spokesperson confirmed that all necessary safety protocols were followed, and arrangements were made to transport passengers to Varanasi via another flight scheduled to depart at 11 am.

While the incident caused temporary disruptions and raised concerns, authorities continue to investigate the source of the hoax threat to prevent similar occurrences in the future.
