BJP Holds Protest in Srinagar Against Killing of Former Sarpanch in Shopian

SRINAGAR, May 21: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) organized a protest demonstration in Srinagar on Tuesday to denounce the killing of a former Sarpanch in Shopian district.

Led by district president Ashok Bhat, the protest accused the Shopian district administration of negligence in ensuring the safety of BJP leader and former Sarpanch, Aijaz Ahmad Sheikh, who was recently gunned down by terrorists.

The demonstration, held outside the BJP district office in Jawahar Nagar, Srinagar, demanded a time-bound inquiry into the administration’s failure to prevent the tragic incident.

“The party believes that the administration’s negligence contributed to the untimely demise of Aijaz Ahmad Sheikh, and therefore, a thorough investigation is warranted to ensure justice for the victim’s family,” stated the protestors.

Warning of further action if immediate steps are not taken, the protestors threatened that the entire Kashmir Unit of the BJP would mobilize and march towards Shopian to stage a protest against the district administration.

Addressing the gathering, BJP leader Ashok Bhat stressed the urgent need for stringent measures to safeguard the lives of BJP leaders and workers in the region. He urged the authorities to swiftly address the security lapses that have endangered the lives of political activists.
