New Delhi : Delhi MP Swati Maliwal has accused Bibhav Kumar, an aide to Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, of assaulting her at Kejriwal’s residence. In her FIR registered by the Delhi Police, Maliwal claimed that Kumar “slapped, hit in the stomach, and kicked” her while she was in the drawing room of the CM’s residence. Following the attack, Maliwal said she fled the residence and immediately contacted the police. She noted that Kejriwal was present at the time of the incident.During her statement, Maliwal, who broke down multiple times, demanded strict action against Kumar, as reported by ANI. The FIR was filed after a two-member police team, led by Additional Commissioner of Police P S Kushwaha, spent nearly four and a half hours recording her statement at her residence in Central Delhi. The FIR includes charges under sections 354 (assault or criminal force to a woman with intent to outrage her modesty), 506 (criminal intimidation), 509 (word, gesture, or act intended to insult the modesty of a woman), and 323 (voluntarily causing hurt) of the IPC, among other sections. Maliwal was later taken to AIIMS for a medical examination.Despite Maliwal’s plea to avoid politicizing the issue, the BJP has targeted Kejriwal, with the party’s national spokesperson Gaurav Bhatia calling him the main “criminal” in the complaint. Bhatia also criticized Kejriwal for his silence on the matter, accusing him of being more of a “goonda” than a chief minister.During a press conference in Lucknow, where Kejriwal was present with Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav and AAP Rajya Sabha member Sanjay Singh, he declined to comment on the issue. Singh reiterated the party’s position, while Yadav dismissed the question, suggesting that there were more important matters to address.
