SRINAGAR, May 16: Jammu and Kashmir witnessed an uptick in nighttime temperatures, settling above normal as no significant weather disturbances are forecasted until May 25.
According to a meteorological department official, Srinagar recorded a low of 13.6°C compared to the previous night’s 10.5°C, marking a 2.2°C increase above the seasonal average. Similarly, Qazigund saw a minimum temperature of 10.6°C, up from the previous night’s 8.0°C, settling 0.4°C above normal.
Pahalgam registered a low of 7.0°C, rising from 4.6°C the night before, while Kokernag recorded a minimum of 10.1°C, compared to 9.1°C previously, both settling above their respective seasonal averages.
Meanwhile, Kupwara maintained a minimum temperature of 10.1°C, remaining normal for the region. Gulmarg reported a minimum of 8.5°C, slightly elevated from the previous night’s 8.4°C, marking a 1.7°C rise above normal for the renowned skiing destination.
In Jammu, the night temperature settled at 24.6°C, up from 21.0°C, indicating a 0.5°C increase above the seasonal average. Banihal, Batote, and Bhaderwah recorded minimums of 10.6°C, 14.3°C, and 9.8°C, respectively.
Looking ahead, the meteorological official stated that dry weather conditions are anticipated until May 17. From May 18-19, generally cloudy weather with light rain/thunder is expected at isolated to scattered places in the afternoon. Beyond that, dry weather is forecasted until May 25, with no significant weather activity anticipated during this period.
