During a rally in Azamgarh, Uttar Pradesh, Prime Minister Narendra Modi accused the Samajwadi Party and Congress of attempting to ignite riots and spreading falsehoods about the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA). Modi boldly asserted that no one in the country possesses the authority to repeal the CAA.
Highlighting the alleged divisive tactics employed by the opposition parties, Modi stated that they propagated misinformation and instigated unrest, particularly in Uttar Pradesh. He challenged the narrative that the CAA would be revoked once he leaves office, rhetorically asking if anyone had the power to overturn the legislation.
Modi further emphasized that the process of granting citizenship to refugees under the CAA has commenced, underscoring their status as long-standing residents who endured the repercussions of the partition based on religious lines.
Accusing the opposition of exploiting false secularism to foment discord between Hindus and Muslims, Modi claimed to have exposed their façade. He condemned their alleged attempts at vote bank politics and divisive tactics.
Continuing his criticism, Modi accused the Congress and SP of advocating for minority appeasement, alleging their intent to allocate 15% of the country’s budget exclusively to minorities.
