HYDERABAD, May 11 : In a fiery address in Hyderabad, Union Home Minister Amit Shah lambasted the Congress and its leaders, alleging that due to fear of Pakistan possessing nuclear weapons, the party intends to relinquish India’s claim over Pakistan-Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (PoJK).
Shah accused Congress leader Mani Shankar Aiyar of advocating this stance, citing Pakistan’s possession of atomic bombs as a reason for India to refrain from discussing PoJK. “Due to the fear of nuclear weapons, they want to surrender our rights over PoJK. But rest assured, Modi ji will become Prime Minister again, and India will respond to Pakistan’s aggression with strength,” Shah declared.
Taking aim at Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy’s comments on “surgical strikes,” Shah defended Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s actions, asserting that the strikes were effective in eliminating terrorists.
Revanth Reddy had previously criticized Modi’s handling of security matters, suggesting an intelligence lapse in preventing the Pulwama attack. “Modi ji sought to gain political mileage from the surgical strikes post the Pulwama incident. My question to Modi ji is, what are you doing? Why did the Pulwama incident occur? Why did you allow it to happen? What steps are you taking for internal security? Why did you not utilize agencies like IB, RAW? This is your failure. Whether a surgical strike truly occurred remains uncertain,” Revanth Reddy had remarked.
Shah’s remarks underscored the ongoing political tensions surrounding national security and territorial integrity, particularly in the context of India’s relations with Pakistan.
