JAMMU, May 1: Amid predictions of predominantly dry weather by the week’s end, Jammu and Kashmir experienced an increase in night temperatures, remaining below normal on Wednesday. According to a meteorological department official, generally dry conditions with afternoon thundershower activity are anticipated in a few areas from May 1-5. Light rains with thunderstorms at scattered locations are forecasted from May 6-7.
Over the last 24 hours until 0830 AM today, Srinagar received 1.6mm of rainfall, while other areas such as Qazigund, Pahalgam, Kupwara, Kokernag, and Gulmarg also witnessed varying amounts of precipitation. Continuous rainfall over several days has resulted in waterlogging on roads and inundation of low-lying areas.
Regarding night temperatures, Srinagar recorded a low of 7.1°C, while Qazigund, Pahalgam, Kokernag, Kupwara, and Gulmarg experienced varying temperatures below normal. Meanwhile, Jammu registered a low of 16.1°C, with Banihal, Batote, and Bhaderwah also reporting temperatures below normal for this time of year.
