New Delhi, Apr 29: External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar shared insights on India’s evolving global image, noting significant shifts in perception due to the nation’s handling of the COVID-19 pandemic and its recent lunar mission, ‘Chandrayaan-3′.
Speaking at an event in Kirori Mal College, Jaishankar emphasized that decisions made within India are closely monitored worldwide. He highlighted the country’s technological achievements, particularly citing the Chandrayaan-3 mission and its impact on the Indian diaspora abroad.
Jaishankar underscored India’s handling of the COVID-19 crisis, which transformed its image from a cause for concern to a beacon of support globally. He praised India’s efforts in repatriating citizens during emergencies, such as Operation Ganga, contrasting it with other nations’ lack of assistance to their citizens abroad.
Regarding the significance of the Indian passport, Jaishankar stressed the importance of governmental support during times of trouble, highlighting India’s commitment to its citizens abroad. He also discussed global fascination with India’s domestic systems, including ration cards and election processes, reflecting the country’s robust infrastructure development and social welfare initiatives.
