Islamabad, Apr 24 : Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), led by imprisoned former Prime Minister Imran Khan, firmly dismissed any speculations regarding clandestine negotiations with the influential establishment, reiterating its stance of no interest in engaging in discussions with any party.
Speaking to reporters outside Adiala Jail in Rawalpindi, PTI Chairman Barrister Gohar Khan emphasized that there had been no contact or dialogue with any institution. Refuting claims of secret negotiations, he stated that neither Imran Khan nor himself had received any communication for talks. Gohar Khan affirmed that any such dialogues, if of interest to PTI, would be conducted transparently, with media disclosure.
The clarification from PTI’s leadership followed reports suggesting Imran Khan’s acknowledgment of ongoing contacts between some PTI leaders and the military establishment. Gohar Khan emphasized that if PTI were to pursue discussions, they would be openly conducted, with media notification.
Furthermore, PTI reaffirmed its commitment to not form alliances with parties accused of electoral misconduct. Despite challenges, the party vowed to persist in advocating for the rights of Pakistani citizens. Earlier this month, Imran Khan hinted at willingness to engage in dialogue for the nation’s betterment, citing past interactions with former army chief Qamar Javed Bajwa. However, he refrained from elaborating on the purported ongoing contacts within PTI, as reported by Dawn.
