BJP’s Advocacy for Singular Leadership in India Seen as Disparaging Rahul Gandhi

Wayanad (Kerala), Apr 15 : Rahul Gandhi, a senior Congress leader, lambasted the ruling BJP at the Centre on Monday, accusing them of advocating the notion of a “single leader in the country,” which he deemed as an “insult” to the nation’s populace.

Drawing an analogy, Gandhi likened India to a bouquet of flowers, stressing the importance of respecting each individual, akin to cherishing the entire bouquet’s beauty.

“This idea that India should have only one leader is an insult to every single young Indian,” he asserted during his address to party workers and constituents in the high-altitude constituency, following an extensive roadshow as part of his election campaign.

Questioning the BJP’s stance, Gandhi pondered why India could not accommodate multiple leaders, emphasizing this as a fundamental difference between the Congress and the BJP.

The Member of Parliament underscored the Congress’s commitment to listening to the people’s voices and honoring their diverse beliefs, languages, religions, and cultures. In contrast, he accused the BJP of imposing top-down directives.

“We did not gain freedom from the British to be subjugated by the RSS ideology. We envision India to be governed by all her people,” Gandhi remarked.

Seeking re-election from Wayanad, Gandhi made his second visit to the constituency since the announcement of the Lok Sabha polls. His electoral campaign commenced earlier this month with the filing of nomination papers and a grand roadshow.

During the 2019 Lok Sabha polls, Gandhi secured victory from Wayanad by a remarkable margin of 4,31,770 votes.

Polling across Kerala’s 20 Lok Sabha seats is scheduled for April 26.
