Jammu, Apr 4: The Congress party plans to deploy 25 star campaigners, including Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi, to address rallies in support of their candidates contesting the Lok Sabha polls in Jammu and Kashmir. Top leaders of the Congress party are expected to visit the region next week.
“Approximately 25 senior leaders from the party, including Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi, are slated to visit Jammu and Kashmir likely next week,” party sources revealed. They stated that the leaders would address rallies in Jammu and Udhampur for the Phase-1 and Phase-2 elections. Choudhary Lal Singh, the Congress candidate for the Kathua-Udhampur Lok Sabha seat going to polls on April 19, will contest against BJP’s two-time sitting Member of Parliament and Union Minister Dr. Jitendra Singh. Meanwhile, from the Jammu-Reasi Lok Sabha seat, set for polls on April 26, Congress candidate Raman Bhalla will compete against BJP’s two-time sitting Member of Parliament Jugal Kishore Sharma. “The Congress party has assembled an impressive array of star campaigners, including top leaders like Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi, to bolster its campaign efforts for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections,” they added. According to party sources, the Congress Organization General Secretary KC Venugopal has released a list of star campaigners visiting Jammu and Kashmir, which includes prominent figures such as Mallikarjun Kharge, Sonia Gandhi, Rahul and Priyanka Gandhi, Ambika Soni, Sachin Pilot, and others. Under the banner of the INDIA alliance, which includes the National Conference and PDP alongside Congress, the party is gearing up to contest on two seats in Jammu and Kashmir.
