Srinagar, Apr 2 : PDP president Mehbooba Mufti criticized the BJP on Tuesday, alleging that the party has empowered unemployed youth across the country to attack Muslims as a means of expressing their frustration.
Her remarks came in response to a media report detailing an incident where an Imam of a mosque in Uttar Pradesh’s Khushinagar was reportedly assaulted by miscreants, with the police allegedly failing to take action against the attackers.
“BJP claims it has replaced stones with laptops in Kashmir. But just a glance at what is happening in the rest of the country is ample proof that they’ve emboldened disgruntled unemployed youngsters to wield lathis & dandas at Muslims only to vent their frustration,” Mufti asserted in a post on X.
She lamented the tragic situation where youth seem content with targeting Muslims, even at the expense of their own futures being jeopardized. Mufti highlighted the discrepancy between the BJP’s promise of creating two crore jobs and the reality where unemployed youth resort to violence.
“Instead of fulfilling their own promises of two crore jobs, they’ve reduced them to dangais & gundas. What makes it even more tragic is the fact that these young men are okay with their futures being destroyed as long as they get to punish & humiliate Muslims,” she added.
