Ravinder Raina: No Pre-Poll Alliance Planned in Jammu And Kashmir

SRINAGAR, Mar 4: Dismissing the possibility of any pre-poll alliances for the upcoming Lok Sabha and assembly elections, Jammu and Kashmir BJP chief Ravinder Raina asserted on Monday that the party is poised to sweep the polls in the Union territory without the need for post-poll alliances.

“We are prepared to contest all five seats in Jammu and Kashmir independently. The Lok Sabha polls will see us standing on our own. Similarly, when the Election Commission schedules the assembly elections, we will contest independently,” Raina informed reporters in Srinagar.

Expressing confidence in the BJP’s electoral prospects, Raina stated, “We are confident of winning both elections as the BJP continues to receive overwhelming support from the people of Jammu and Kashmir.”

Highlighting Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s upcoming rally in Srinagar on March 7, Raina anticipated a massive turnout, particularly emphasizing the enthusiasm among Kashmiri residents for Modi’s visit.

“The people of Kashmir are jubilant about PM Modi’s visit to the valley on March 7. More than two lakh people are expected to attend the rally at Bakshi Stadium. There is a palpable sense of joy in Kashmir over PM Modi’s visit,” he added.

Raina lauded the Modi government’s financial allocations to Jammu and Kashmir, attributing them to the significant development witnessed in the Union territory.

“PM Modi’s visit to Kashmir in 2014 brought hope to flood victims, with the announcement of a development package worth Rs 80,000 crore. This package played a crucial role in addressing the challenges faced by Kashmir,” Raina remarked.

He further highlighted the generous allocation of funds by the Modi government for Jammu and Kashmir, citing the region’s current phase of prosperity and peace as a testament to the government’s initiatives.
