Bhaderwah: With an aim to aware prisoners about the oral hygiene and provide on spot treatment, Chairman District Legal Services Authority (DLSA) Bhaderwah (who is Principal District and Session Judge Bhaderwah) inaugurated Dental awareness cum hygiene camp organized for the inmates of District Jail Bhaderwah.
The camp was organized by Indira Gandhi Government Dental College in collaboration with J&K Legal Services Authority and Prison Department, J&K.
Principal District and Session judge Bhaderwah Sunit Gupta accompanied by Secretary DLSA ( Sub Judge ) Ramesh Lal, Dr Azhar Malik from Govt Dental College Jammu, Superintendent District Jail Bhaderwah Mushtaq Ahmed Malla, Advocate Pooja Kotwal and Advocate Mohd Majid Malik Inaugurated the mega camp.
PLVs and team of dental surgeons from Indra Gandhi Dental College Jammu were present on the occasion.
While addressing after inaugurating the two day camp, Principal District and Session Judge Bhaderwah Sunit Gupta said that dental hygiene is equally important for every person but due to lack of awareness the people normally ignore these issues.
“On the directions of Justice Tashi Rabstan, (Judge High Court of J&K and Ladakh) Executive Chairman J&K Legal Services Authority these camps are being organized across Jammu and Kashmir, ” Chairman DLSA Gupta added.
He said this awareness cum hygiene camp has been specially designed to address the dental problems being faced by the jail inmates.
“J&K Legal Services Authority after holding a detailed meeting with Principal Indira Gandhi, Government Dental College and Director General, Prisons formulated a calendar spreading over 2 months for organising dental awareness cum hygiene camps in two phases in all the jails of Jammu and Kashmir, he added, saying that in the first phase, jails located in Jammu province are being covered, while the second phase, all the jails of Kashmir province will be covered.
“This shall not only spread the awareness about the dental hygiene, but shall also conduct dental check-up and provide treatment during the camp, ” said Superintendent District Jail Bhaderwah Mushtaq Ahmed Malla.
On the occasion, various dental surgeons also addressed the gathering and educated them about various precautions required for maintaining dental health.
Superintendent Mushtaq Ahmed Malla while thanking the Chairman DLSA, acknowledged the efforts of Legal Services Institutions in organizing such programmes for jail inmates and addressing their problems.
The Chairman DLSA Bhaderwah also met all the inmates and spent about an hour with them. He also listened their grievances.
Advocate Mohd Majid Malik also addressed the inmates.
Meanwhile jail inmates expressed their gratitude to Chairman DLSA, Superintendent District Jail Bhaderwah, Govt Dental college and others for this initiative to ease their problems related to dental.
