Srinagar, January 30: In a bold move that underscores the growing confidence of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in Jammu and Kashmir, Senior BJP Minority Morcha Leader, Tejwant Singh Sawhney, has thrown down the gauntlet to political heavyweights National Conference’s (NC) Farooq Abdullah and People’s Democratic Party’s (PDP) Mehbooba Mufti. Sawhney has openly challenged both leaders to contest elections against him in the upcoming assembly polls.
Sawhney, a prominent figure within the BJP’s Minority Morcha, asserted that the NC and PDP have lost significant ground in Kashmir, and the people of Jammu and Kashmir have unequivocally rejected them. He confidently stated that the collective voice of the region is calling for a BJP-led government, and the aspirations of the people align with the vision and policies of the Bharatiya Janata Party.

In a media statement, Sawhney expressed his belief that the time has come for a new era in Jammu and Kashmir politics, one that is marked by dynamic leadership and a commitment to the welfare of the people. He highlighted the positive changes brought about by the BJP government at the national level and emphasized the need for similar progress and development in Jammu and Kashmir.
Sawhney went on to assert that if Farooq Abdullah and Mehbooba Mufti decide to contest elections against him, they are bound to face defeat at the hands of the people. He confidently predicted that both leaders would lose their deposit, reflecting the overwhelming support for the BJP in the region.
The upcoming elections in Jammu and Kashmir are poised to be a significant battleground, and Sawhney’s challenge adds an interesting dimension to the political landscape. As the BJP gears up for the electoral contest, Sawhney’s assertion is a clear indication of the party’s commitment to securing the mandate of the people and steering Jammu and Kashmir towards a new era of growth and prosperity.
