New Delhi, January 29: Prime Minister Narendra Modi, during his annual “Pariksha Pe Charcha” program on Monday, cautioned parents against viewing their child’s report card as a personal visiting card. He emphasized the importance of healthy competition, urging students to compete with themselves rather than comparing with others. In the interactive session with students, parents, and teachers, Modi highlighted the three types of stress students face: peer pressure, parental expectations, and self-induced pressure.
Addressing the detrimental effects of comparing children, the Prime Minister stated, “Some parents treat their children’s report card as their visiting card, this is not good.” Modi advocated setting small goals during preparation and gradually improving performance to alleviate self-imposed pressure before exams.
In acknowledging the innovative prowess of students, Modi referred to them as the shapers of India’s future. He characterized the “Pariksha Pe Charcha” program as an examination for himself, emphasizing the crucial role students play in shaping the nation’s destiny.
Organized by the Ministry of Education, the Pariksha Pe Charcha program has been engaging students, parents, and teachers for the past six years. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the fourth edition was conducted online, while the fifth and sixth editions returned to the town hall format. The current edition, held in a town hall format at Bharat Mandapam, witnessed an estimated 2.26 crore registrations on the MyGov portal, reflecting widespread enthusiasm among students.
During this year’s event, two students and a teacher from each state and Union Territory, along with winners of the Kala Utsav, were invited. Modi encouraged students to shape their future by focusing on personal growth and healthy competition. The Prime Minister’s advice aimed to alleviate stress and foster a positive learning environment for the nation’s youth.
