Bhubaneswar, January 29: Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge voiced concerns on Monday, suggesting that the 2024 Lok Sabha elections might represent the last opportunity for people to safeguard democracy. He expressed apprehensions that if Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s party emerges victorious, there could be a shift towards dictatorship.
Addressing a party rally, Kharge urged the public to distance themselves from the BJP and its ideological counterpart RSS, likening them to “poison.” He emphasized that the upcoming elections could be pivotal for preserving democracy in India.
Regarding the JD(U) of Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar returning to the NDA and leaving the Congress on Sunday, Kharge downplayed its potential impact on the polls. He asserted, “One person quitting Mahagathbandhan will not weaken us. We will defeat the BJP.”
