BJP Launches Election Campaign in J&K, Sets Sights on All Five Lok Sabha Seats

Srinagar, Jan 27: The BJP has commenced its campaign activities in Jammu and Kashmir with a strategic goal of securing all five Lok Sabha seats in the Union Territory, revealed senior party leader Ashok Kaul on Saturday.

Addressing reporters in Anantnag after a party meeting, Kaul stated, “We have initiated preparations for the upcoming elections. Dr. Nirmal Singh has been appointed as the sector in-charge for the five Lok Sabha seats in Jammu and Kashmir.” He further elaborated that the BJP plans to establish six election offices in the five constituencies, slated to begin operations from January 30.

“The president of Jammu and Kashmir BJP will inaugurate all six offices, two each for Anantnag and Rajouri seats, and one each for the other four seats, on January 30. Our objective is to secure all five seats from Jammu and Kashmir for the BJP,” Kaul affirmed.

Regarding the INDIA bloc, Kaul dismissed its significance, asserting that the BJP had consistently viewed it as merely a photo opportunity. He remarked, “We have maintained from the beginning that this INDIA alliance is a photo session. Bengal (TMC) has gone one way, Punjab and Delhi (AAP) have gone the other way, while the one they had made convenor is also wavering back and forth. Today, the alliance is nowhere.”

Kaul also commented on the People’s Alliance for Gupkar Declaration (PAGD), stating that it was unraveling in Jammu and Kashmir. The PAGD was formed in 2019 in response to the abrogation of Jammu and Kashmir’s special status under Article 370, with the bifurcation of the state into Union territories — J&K and Ladakh.
