India’s 75th Republic Day Parade: A Spectacle of Growing Nari Shakti and Military Might

New Delhi, January 26: Today marks the momentous platinum celebrations of India’s Republic Day, featuring a captivating display of military prowess and rich cultural heritage at the grand ‘Kartavya Path’ in the national capital. Led by President Droupadi Murmu, the nation embarks on the journey of Amrit Kaal following the ‘Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav’ commemorations, marking 75 years of independence. The parade, themed ‘Viksit Bharat,’ ‘Bharat – Loktantra ki Matruka,’ showcases India’s cultural diversity, ‘Aatmanirbhar’ military strength, and the burgeoning Nari Shakti. French President Emmanuel Macron graces the 90-minute spectacle as the Chief Guest.

Breaking tradition, an all-women Tri-Service contingent will march down the Kartavya Path for the first time, symbolizing Nari Shakti. Women pilots will also participate in the Indian Air Force’s fly-past, while contingents of the Central Armed Police Forces (CAPF) will exclusively feature women personnel.

The parade will commence with over 100 women artists playing traditional Indian musical instruments, setting the stage for a grand event. With themes of ‘Viksit Bharat’ and ‘Bharat – Loktantra ki Matruka,’ the parade emphasizes the nation’s defense forces, showcasing mechanized columns, state-of-the-art equipment, diverse cultural displays, and unity in diversity.

Approximately 13,000 special guests, representing various walks of life, will participate, fostering Jan Bhagidari in this national festival. Starting at 10:30 am and lasting approximately 90 minutes, the Republic Day parade promises a spectacular display of India’s heritage and strength.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will initiate the ceremony by paying solemn tributes at the National War Memorial, followed by dignitaries heading to the saluting dais at Kartavya Path. President Murmu and French President Macron will be escorted by the President’s Bodyguard in a traditional buggy, a practice revived after 40 years.

The ceremony will unfold with the unfurling of the National Flag, accompanied by the National Anthem and a 21-gun salute using indigenous 105-mm Indian Field Guns. Four Mi-17 IV helicopters will shower flower petals, and a band performance by over 100 women artists symbolizing Nari Shakti will precede the parade.

The parade, commanded by Parade Commander Lieutenant General Bhavnish Kumar, will feature a combined band and marching contingent of the French Armed Forces. French Air and Space Force’s multi-role tanker transport aircraft and two Rafale fighter jets will fly above contingents during the march.

Noteworthy is the cultural extravaganza ‘Vande Bharatam,’ presented by the Ministry of Defence and Ministry of Culture. With the theme ‘Cultural expression of women power – accomplishment through resolve,’ around 1,500 female dancers will showcase 30 folk dance styles, contemporary classical dance, and Bollywood styles, promoting unity in diversity.

The Ministry of Culture will also showcase ‘Anant Sutra – The Endless Thread,’ a textile installation paying tribute to the timeless Indian saree. This Republic Day, India celebrates its heritage, military strength, and the indomitable spirit of Nari Shakti, embodying the ideals of democracy and progress.
