New Delhi, January 11 – The BJP strongly criticized the Congress on Thursday for turning down the invitation extended to its top three leaders to attend the consecration ceremony of the Ram temple in Ayodhya. The BJP alleges that this decision exposes the Congress’s inherent opposition to India’s culture and Hindu religion.
According to BJP spokesperson Sudhanshu Trivedi, the Congress, driven by “jealousy, malice, and inferiority complex” towards Prime Minister Narendra Modi, has gone to the extent of opposing both the country and God. Trivedi emphasized the symbolic significance of the Ram temple in Ayodhya, representing the highest values of Indian traditions and culture. However, he accused the Congress and other like-minded opposition parties of prioritizing extremist politics over these cultural values.
Trivedi highlighted the acceptance of the invitation by Iqbal Ansari, the Muslim litigant in the temple and Babri mosque land dispute, contrasting it with the Congress’s decision to boycott the ceremony. He claimed that obstructing historic moments for the country has been a consistent trend of the main opposition party.
Citing instances such as the inauguration of the new Parliament building, enactment of the GST, and presidential addresses to Parliament, Trivedi accused the Congress of consistently boycotting significant events in the country’s history. He expressed disappointment in the party’s failure to learn from past mistakes despite being kept away from power by the people.
Rejecting the Congress’s claim that the BJP and RSS had taken over the event, Trivedi emphasized that the temple’s significance transcends any organization or ideology. He questioned whether the Congress still supports the idea of rebuilding the mosque demolished in Ayodhya in 1992.
Trivedi drew a parallel with the historical opposition of Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru to the association of President Rajendra Prasad and some Congress leaders with the rebuilding and inauguration of the Somnath temple. He argued that the Congress continues this legacy by disowning Mahatma Gandhi’s concept of ‘Ram Rajya.’
In conclusion, Trivedi emphasized the national pride associated with the temple’s construction after 500 years of struggle. The news comes after Congress leaders Mallikarjun Kharge, Sonia Gandhi, and Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury declined the invitation, accusing the BJP of turning the event into a “political project” for electoral gains.
