New Delhi, Jan 3 – The NCC Republic Day Camp 2024 in New Delhi will witness the participation of a total of 2,274 cadets, with a notable increase in the involvement of girl cadets, according to the Director General of the National Cadet Corps (NCC), Lt Gen Gurbirpal Singh. The camp, which encapsulates the spirit of India, is set to be inaugurated by the vice president and will conclude with the PM Rally.
Addressing the media at Delhi Cantonment during a press briefing, Lt Gen Gurbirpal Singh highlighted the consistent rise in the enrollment of girl cadets in the NCC each year. This year, 907 girl cadets will be part of the NCC Republic Day Camp.
In the previous year, a total of 2,155 cadets, including 710 girls, from all 28 states and eight union territories participated in the nearly month-long camp. Various competitions, ranging from the best contingent and best cadet to horse riding, will be held during the camp, which takes place at the Cariappa Parade Ground in Delhi Cantonment.
Lt Gen Singh presented information on the 2024 camp during the briefing and shared the NCC’s plan to make cadet training more relevant to contemporary needs. He mentioned the ongoing process of revising the NCC syllabus to include the latest facets, such as drone training, improvement of life skills, and other contemporary elements.
Highlighting the efforts to enhance training infrastructure, Lt Gen Singh emphasized the importance of providing the latest equipment to training aides and ensuring the welfare of NCC staff. He noted that the NCC has already incorporated GPS and satellite imagery training for map reading.
The NCC Republic Day Camp serves as a platform for youths from different states and UTs to interact, fostering cultural exchange and understanding among the participants.
