Claims of Pre-SC Verdict Arrests Ahead of Article 370 Ruling Deemed Unfounded, States LG

Jammu, December 11 : Dismissing Claims, Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha Refutes Reports of Pre-SC Verdict Arrests Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha categorically denied any reports of house arrest or arrests ahead of the Supreme Court’s verdict on the abrogation of Article 370. Responding to the People’s Democratic Party’s (PDP) assertion that its president, Mehbooba Mufti, was placed under house arrest, Sinha stated that such claims are entirely baseless.

“This is totally baseless. In the entire Jammu and Kashmir, no one has been put under house arrest or arrest. This is an attempt to spread rumors,” declared the LG during a press briefing in Jammu. Sinha emphasized that he is stating this with full responsibility, asserting that no individuals have been subjected to house arrest or arrest for political reasons anywhere in the region.

The PDP had claimed that Mehbooba Mufti was put under “illegal house arrest” even before the Supreme Court’s judgment was pronounced. The apex court is set to deliver its verdict on a series of petitions challenging the abrogation of the provisions of Article 370, which conferred special status upon the erstwhile state of Jammu and Kashmir.
