Srinagar, Dec 6: Cold conditions intensified in Jammu and Kashmir as Srinagar experienced the coldest night of the season at minus 2.0°C on Wednesday.
According to a meteorological department official, Srinagar recorded a low of minus 2.0°C, compared to minus 1.4°C the previous night, marking a deviation of 1.1°C below the seasonal average for this time in Srinagar.
Qazigund reported a minimum temperature of minus 2.0°C, down from minus 1.6°C the previous night, registering a deviation of 1.0°C below the norm for the gateway town of Kashmir.
Pahalgam recorded a low of minus 5.1°C, compared to minus 4.3°C the previous night, with a deviation of 1.8°C below the normal for the renowned resort in south Kashmir.
In Kokernag, also in south Kashmir, the minimum temperature was minus 0.5°C, up from 0.2°C the previous night, but still within 0.1°C above the normal range for the location, as per the official.
Kupwara town in north Kashmir reported a low of minus 2.7°C, down from minus 1.4°C the previous night, indicating a deviation of 1.3°C below normal, the official mentioned.
Gulmarg, the world-famous skiing resort in north Kashmir, recorded a low of minus 2.2°C, slightly higher than the minus 2.3°C recorded the previous night, with the current temperature being 1.1°C above normal.
Jammu recorded a minimum temperature of 9.0°C, compared to 9.9°C the previous night, registering a deviation of 0.8°C below normal for the winter capital of J&K.
The meteorological official forecasted partly cloudy weather until December 7, with expectations of partly to generally cloudy conditions from December 8-10.
