Uttar Pradesh, 06 Dec : On the anniversary of the Babri Masjid demolition, heightened security measures have been implemented in Ayodhya, Uttar Pradesh. As the 31st anniversary of the incident is observed on December 6, the local administration in Ayodhya has taken steps to ensure tight security and prevent any untoward incidents.
In anticipation of the commemoration, Ayodhya Police stated that strict security arrangements have been put in place throughout the city. The 1992 demolition of the Babri Masjid resulted in widespread violence across various parts of the country.
Security measures include the monitoring of individuals entering and leaving the city through CCTV cameras, along with identity card checks. Additionally, officials reported an increased focus on vehicle inspections in various areas of Ayodhya. Ayodhya SSP Rajkaran Nayyar urged the public to refrain from spreading rumors and creating confusion.
The police administration has organized teams in different sectors, and forces from nearby districts, including the Pradeshik Armed Constabulary (PAC) of the UP Police, have been called in for support. A comprehensive police system has been implemented to prevent any untoward incidents, with a particular emphasis on securing important locations, according to Nayyar.
He emphasized the readiness of the information system and social media team to monitor and verify information shared through such platforms, urging against the spread of rumors. The deployment of police personnel has been tailored to meet specific requirements, with a focus on key areas, the SSP added.
The Babri Masjid, located in Ayodhya, was demolished on December 6, 1992, by a large group of ‘kar sevaks.’ Subsequent events led to the ransacking, torching, and destruction of a significant number of Muslim residences in Ayodhya. The aftermath also saw riots erupting in various parts of the country, resulting in the loss of over 1,000 lives.
