Srinagar, Dec 1: In Baramulla district of Jammu and Kashmir, three individuals, including a woman, were apprehended by the police on Friday for their involvement in drug peddling. The Sheeri Police Station team intercepted two men and a woman on a scooty at a checkpoint in Kitchama near the Service Station. A search led to the discovery of 776 grams of a contraband substance resembling “Heroin” in their possession. The arrested trio, identified as Riyaz Ahmad Ganie and Shokeen Ahmad Ganie from Batangi Boniyar, and Saleema Begum from Mother Sheeri, has been transferred to Police Station Sheeri, where they are currently held in custody. Law enforcement has registered a case under relevant legal provisions, and investigations are underway. Authorities encourage citizens to report drug peddling or other criminal activities by contacting the nearest police establishment or dialing 112. The police emphasize the importance of community cooperation in combating the menace of drugs, assuring stringent action against criminals in accordance with the law.
