Lieutenant Governor Sinha Ready for J&K Assembly Polls as Per Election Commission’s Schedule

JAMMU, December 1: Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha affirmed on Thursday that his administration is prepared to conduct assembly polls in the Union Territory as per the directives of the Election Commission of India (ECI). Addressing a conference named ‘Samvaad,’ LG Sinha criticized certain political leaders for disseminating misinformation about elections and declared his commitment to staying in Jammu and Kashmir until the assembly polls are successfully conducted.

Sinha emphasized that all required information has been submitted to the ECI, and whenever the ECI issues instructions, the J&K administration is prepared to organize elections. He underscored that the authority to conduct assembly polls lies solely with the Election Commission of India.

Speaking about the democratic processes in J&K, LG Sinha noted that his primary task was to ensure the establishment of the nation’s authority in the region, a goal he claims to have achieved. He highlighted the elimination of top commanders of terrorist organizations and asserted that there is no place for terrorism in the region. Sinha also emphasized the coordination between the army, CRPF, and police, and he expressed determination to avenge the killings of security personnel.

On the issue of Kashmiri Pandits, LG Sinha acknowledged the government’s efforts in providing jobs and homes for 3,000 individuals but stressed the need for additional measures to facilitate their resettlement.
