Bhaderwah: After Government announced winter vacations in schools of Kashmir Division, the students of Winter zone of Jammu Division also demanded winter vacations on the pattern of Kashmir division as being announced earlier.
It is notable that every year the order regarding winter vacations was issued by Principal Secretary Education, who announce winter vaccinations for Kashmir division and winter zone of Jammu Division, but this year surprisingly Director Education Kashmir issued winter vacation order for only Kashmir division creating confusion among students and parents of Winter zone of Jammu Division.
The students of Bhaderwah have appealed the authorities to declare winter Vacations as cold wave conditions have gripped whole Chenab Valley as well.
As the cold has increased and temperature dropped considerably in the Chenab Valley, the demand for winter vacation for schools is getting shriller.
The parents and Private School Association have also urged the government that in order to prevent children from facing health hazards the winter vacations should be also announced in winter zone of Jammu Division including Bhaderwah, Doda, Kishtwar and Ramban.
Over the past few days, temperature across Chenab Valley have plummeted significantly, plunging well below the seasonal averages.
Neeraj Singh Manhas, President Private School Association Bhaderwah said that this unexpected winter has become troublesome for the school going children, who have to confront biting cold conditions in the early morning.
“Adding to the woes of the students is the lack of adequate heating facilities in schools. The classrooms and common areas in the school remain uncomfortably cold, providing no respite to the students from the biting cold,” Manhas added.
Due to the increase in cold, parents are worried about the adverse impact of weather on their children’s health and academic performance.
Meanwhile when contacted Director School Education Jammu, Ashok Sharma, he said that concerned CEOs has been asked to get assessment from views of parents and students in their respective districts. “When the CEOs concerned communicate to this office about the demands of students and parents, we will take call on winter vacations accordingly, ” Director added.
