Delhi Sees Minimum Temperature of 12.6°C as Air Quality Plunges to ‘Very Poor’

New Delhi, Nov 30 : The minimum temperature in the national capital stood at 12.6 degrees Celsius on Thursday, marking a deviation of two notches above the seasonal average, as reported by the weather department. The forecast anticipates generally cloudy skies with the possibility of very light rain or thundershowers throughout the day, as indicated in the India Meteorological Department bulletin.

At 8:30 am, the relative humidity was recorded at 96 percent. Meanwhile, the Air Quality Index (AQI) registered at 366 at 9 am, according to data provided by the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB). The categorization places the current air quality in the “very poor” range.

The AQI scale designates levels from zero to 500, with values between zero and 50 considered “good,” 51 to 100 as “satisfactory,” 101 to 200 as “moderate,” 201 to 300 as “poor,” 301 to 400 as “very poor,” and 401 to 500 as “severe.”

Among the monitoring stations, six out of 37 (Punjabi Bagh, Bawana, Mundka, Nehru Nagar, and Jahangirpuri) reported AQI in the “severe” category, while at 30 stations, the air quality was classified as “very poor.”

According to the weather department, the maximum temperature is expected to linger around 24 degrees Celsius.
