Srinagar, Nov 20: The city of Srinagar in Jammu and Kashmir grappled with persistent dense fog for a third consecutive day on Monday morning. The Srinagar weather department indicated the likelihood of rain and snow at various locations from November 27-30.
As the fog persisted, school buses and vehicles encountered challenges in navigating the harsh winter conditions. Hitesh, a tourist from Ahmedabad, noted the dense fog in the early morning hours, with visibility limited to 50 feet. Floodlights were deployed to facilitate smooth traffic flow, but concerns were raised about the increasing cold as winter set in.
On Monday, the maximum temperature in Srinagar, the summer capital of Jammu and Kashmir, reached 16 degrees Celsius, with partly cloudy skies. The Meteorological Centre in Srinagar forecast generally dry weather until November 26, with occasional cloudy skies from November 18-25. The outlook for November 27-30 indicated the possibility of rain/snow at scattered places.
Another tourist expressed the challenge of navigating the city in the early morning fog, describing it as a blanket that reduces visibility and makes walking difficult. Fog, characterized by tiny water droplets forming a thick cloud close to the land or sea, can create hazardous driving conditions by severely limiting visibility to just a few meters.
