Bhaderwah, Oct 12: To highlight their demands, retired Anganwadi workers and helpers staged a protest demonstration demanding retirement benefits at Bhaderwah on Thursday.
Retired Anganwadi workers and helpers assembled at Community Hall Kotli, Bhaderwah under the banner of Retired Anganwadi Workers and Helpers Association (RAWHA) Bhaderwah and held protest.
Holding banners and placards in their hands, they raised slogans against the Government for not providing them any support after their retirement. They also raise slogans in support of their demands.
They said that there was no retirement policy or process of ICDS workers till 2022, but suddenly we were retired by the government without providing any benefits.
Saleema Akhter President RAWHA Bhaderwah said that we worked with full dedication since 1980 and government should provide us retirement benefits including gratuity of Rs 4 lakh per worker/helper and monthly pension.
“After serving the department for 45 years, we were retired empty hands without providing any retirement benefit, which is a discrimination with all of us,” Akhter added, saying that government should consider our services and provide us our right.
The demands retirement benefits including Pension, 4 Lakhs gratuity, pending wages and appointment of their daughter-in-laws in their places.
They appealed PM Narendra Modi and LG administration to intervene into the matter.
Those who participated in protest include Saleema Akhter President RAWHA, Sheela Devi, Bholi Devi, Parveen Akhter, Shahida Begum, Nayeema Begum, Razia Begum, Ram Pyari, Vakeela Devi and others.
