Mumbai, October 9 : The NCP’s Sharad Pawar faction took a dig at the BJP on Monday, suggesting that while BJP leaders swiftly expressed support for Israel amid its conflict with Hamas, they have remained conspicuously silent on the issue in Manipur.
NCP national spokesperson Clyde Crasto remarked, “Numerous innocent lives are being lost in the conflict between Israel and Palestine. The BJP and its leaders were quick to issue statements condemning the violence in Israel, and it should serve as a reminder to the BJP and its leaders that Manipur is a part of India.”
He went on to assert that despite their prompt response to support Israel and denounce the casualties there, the BJP has regrettably failed to address the anguish and suffering of the people of Manipur.
Crasto emphasized that the silence of BJP leaders regarding the Manipur violence raises questions about their intentions concerning this issue within the Indian territory. He stressed that while diplomatic relationships hold significance, the well-being and lives of Indian citizens take precedence, and this is a perspective that the BJP should comprehend.
