Commander 9 Sector inaugurates 11th edition of iconic Youth Festival ‘SANGAM-2023 at Bhaderwah

500 students from 24 Colleges, University and Campuses participating in more than 25 events

Bhaderwah, Oct 07: With an aim to inculcate sense of belonging for the nation and promote peace, unity and communal harmony among young minds, Army’s 4 Rashtriya Rifles in collaboration with Bhaderwah Campus organising 11th edition of iconic Youth Festival ‘SANGAM-2023’ at Bhaderwah, which commences here on Saturday.

The 3 days mega youth festival SANGAM-2023 was inaugurated by Commander 9 Sector RR Brig Samir K Palande, who was the chief guest, along with DC Doda Vishesh Pal Mahajan and SSP Doda Abdul Qayoom, in presence of CO 4RR Col Yogesh Couhan, Prof Rahul Gupta Rector Bhaderwah Campus and Registrar Jammu University on Saturday morning by lighting of traditional lamp.

The youth festival with theme of ‘Unity and Peace’, in which 500 students from 24 Colleges, universities and satellite Campuses are participating is being organised at Bhaderwah Campus of Jammu University.

ADC Bhadarwah Dil Mir Choudhary, ASP Vinod Sharma, Director Aakashwani Bhaderwah Gowhar Anayat, ERO Bhaderwah Campus Arif Khateeb, SDPO Wasim Mehmood, SHO Jatinder Singh, officials of Civil Administration, Police, Prominent Citizens of Bhaderwah, Principals and Teachers of Colleges/Schools were also present on the occasion.

Students present cultural items depicting culture and tradition of Chenab Valley, beside a skit on Drugs, depicting it’s ill effects on the society during the opening Ceremony of the event.

Commander 9 Sector RR Brig Samir K Palande while lauding the role of Army and Bhaderwah Campus said that it’s a iconic festival and involve our young minds in a positive activity. He congratulated the Army and Bhaderwah Campus for this colourful bonanza, which will also inculcate the sense of Unity and Peace among youths.

He while emphasising on youth of this region said that the youths of the Chenab valley should play a vital role in making this region a hub of creativity and innovation by adopting positive field.

Rector Bhaderwah Campus Prof. Rahul Gupta and CO 4RR Col Yogesh Chouhan in their welcome address congratulated the youth for SANGAM Youth Festival 2023 and hope that they will enjoy these days at Bhaderwah with their active participation in different events.

They also congratulated the youth of Chenab Valley for embracing education and knowledge leading to self-development and enriching society.

Rector Prof Rahul Gupta also highlighted the role of youth in developing the Nation and importance of Army in one’s life.

ERO Bhaderwah Campus Arif Khateeb said that SANGAM Youth festival is an appropriate platform to showcase talent. We hope the festival conclude successfully with spreading message of Peace and Unity.

‘SANGAM’ is the iconic youth festival of Jammu and Kashmir and this used to be the most important and eagerly awaited event of the annual calender of Jammu University.

The youth festival provides a suitable platform for the youth to showcase their talent across domains of sports, culture and fine arts with an aim of spreading the message of Peace, Unity & communal harmony.

This unique festival also provides students with an opportunity to interact with one another and learn good values and experience the local cultural heritage.

A total of 25 events (outdoor and Indoor activities) including Debate, Poster Making, Photography, Skit, Chess, Athletic, Rangooli, Marathon, Kho-Kho, Race, Discuss Throw etc will be conducted from 7th to 9th October during Youth Festival.

The traditional folk dance and other cultural programs performed by students mesmerised the audience with their talent. Students of Poonch Campus also paid rich tributes to Martyrs of Rajouri and Anantnag encounters through their cultural item.

The enthusiasm and motivation of the participating students was very encouraging.

Such cultural and sporting events are a great media towards aligning the perception of youth towards a positive end and portray an overall image of the Indian Army as a harbinger of peace and unity.
