TADA Court Denies Bail to JKLF and Hurriyat Activists Arrested in Srinagar Hotel Raid

Srinagar, September 25: The bail pleas of approximately a dozen Hurriyat and JKLF activists, who had been detained under the UAPA (Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act) following their arrest in a hotel raid in Srinagar, have been rejected by a TADA (Terrorist and Disruptive Activities (Prevention) Act) court.

According to reports, a special TADA Court turned down the bail application filed by 10 members of JKLF (Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front) and Hurriyat who were apprehended and charged under UAPA earlier this year.

These individuals were taken into custody in July following a police spokesperson’s statement that a search operation had been carried out based on credible information regarding a meeting involving some former members of JKLF and erstwhile separatists at a Srinagar hotel.

They were subsequently brought to Kothibagh Police Station for verification purposes. An inquiry was initiated, and it appeared prima facie that they were allegedly involved in planning to reestablish JKLF and Hurriyat, as stated by a spokesperson at that time.
