Rajouri encounter;Last rites of Martyr Rifleman Ravi Kumar held with full honor in Kishtwar

Kishtwar: The mortal remains of 26-year-old Rifleman Ravi Kumar, who lost his life during an encounter in Rajouri, were consigned to the flames as per religious and social customs with full honours at his native village Wasnoti, Galigarh, Trigam of Kishtwar District on Thursday.

Earlier, the body of the martyr, wrapped in the Tricolour, arrived in a Army truck accompanied by some officers and jawans of his battalion. It was kept at his house for some time where family members, relatives and villagers paid floral tributes to him.

Sombre wreath laying ceremony was also held for Army Rifleman Ravi Kumar, who lost his life during an encounter with terrorists at Narla in the Rajouri disrtrict of Jammu and Kashmir on Tuesday.

The security forces bid a tearful farewell to the slain jawan at Shamshan Ghat near Kishtwar.

Army jawans presented a guard of honour to the departed soul.

While paying tributes, Army Officers and Jawans saluted the supreme sacrifice of Rifleman Ravi during OP SUJALIGALA in the highest traditions of the Indian Army. His unwavering dedication and service to our nation will always be remembered.” they said.

Thousands of people from all walks of life, including relatives, friends, neighborers and general public gathered at the village Shamshan Ghat to attend the last rites of the martyr. They raised slogans “Shaheed Jawan Ravi Kumar amar rahe”.

It is notable that Rifleman Ravi Kumar of 63 RR who is a resident of Wasnoti, Galigarh, Trigam, Kishtwar was martyred in an operation in Rajouri on Tuesday.
