Jammu and Kashmir’s Director General of Police (DGP), Dilbag Singh, expressed optimism about the region’s journey toward becoming a “terror-free region.” Speaking to reporters at the District Police Lines (DPL) in Sopore, he emphasized that terrorism in J&K had reached an all-time low, with a significantly reduced number of terrorists.
“We are diligently working to eradicate the remnants of terrorism,” stated the DGP during a recent function. The prevailing peace in the region is evident, as areas like Sopore, once known as a hotbed of militancy, are now experiencing thriving businesses and smiles on the faces of the people.
DGP Dilbag Singh was joined by DIG Vivek Gupta, underlining the commitment of the police force to maintain security and peace in the region. He also highlighted the new challenge that Jammu and Kashmir faces: drug smuggling.
After achieving significant success in counterterrorism efforts, the police are now shifting their focus to tackle the drug menace. “We are committed to making J&K a drug-free place,” emphasized the DGP. This commitment reflects the region’s determination to not only maintain security but also address the emerging challenges effectively.
The efforts to combat drug abuse and narco-smuggling align with the broader goal of ensuring the well-being and safety of the people of Jammu and Kashmir. As the region progresses towards its goal of becoming “terror-free,” it aims to create an environment where the rule of law and prosperity thrive, offering its residents a brighter and more secure future.
