Rajnath Likely To Attend North Tech Symposium In Jammu Next Month

Defence Minister Rajnath Singh is poised to mark his presence at the upcoming North Tech Symposium, set to take place in Jammu next month, according to officials’ announcements on Sunday. The event, scheduled to commence on September 11, is anticipated to host more than 150 vendors showcasing an array of military equipment over the course of three days.

During his visit, the defence minister is also expected to embark on a two-day tour of the Jammu region from September 12. The itinerary encompasses inaugurating a significant bridge over the Devak River in Samba district, along with overseeing 74 additional projects spearheaded by the Border Roads Organisation (BRO). This comprehensive initiative involves the construction of critical infrastructure like airstrips and tunnels along the northern and western borders.

The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Jammu will serve as the venue for the symposium, strategically designed as a platform for fostering interactions between the army and industry. This collaborative effort is geared towards enhancing awareness about contemporary technologies and equipment that align with the operational and logistic requisites of the army’s northern command.

The event also facilitates a structured approach for product evaluation, prioritisation and acquisition besides providing viable and actionable inputs for formulation of procurement plans,” he said

Lt Col Suneel Bartwal, the Defence PRO based in Jammu, highlighted the symposium’s multifaceted approach, encompassing seminars, exhibitions, and military equipment displays. The event fosters a structured evaluation of products, enabling prioritization and acquisition strategies while contributing actionable insights for the formulation of procurement plans.

The symposium will culminate with a military equipment display on the final day, following two days of informative seminars and exhibitions. Rajnath Singh’s visit to the symposium on September 12 is anticipated after dedicating 75 key projects to the nation at Samba. Notably, the completion of the Devak Bridge in Samba district under Project Sampark within a two-year timeframe underscores the commitment to infrastructural development in the region.
