LeT associates arrested Sopore
In a successful joint operation, the police and security forces have detained two terrorist associates linked to the proscribed outfit Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) in Sopore, a town in Baramulla district of North Kashmir. The arrests were made on Friday, accompanied by the recovery of crucial evidence including two grenades, eight pistol rounds, and other incriminating materials from their possession.
According to an official statement released by the police, the apprehension of the two individuals occurred during an operation conducted by police personnel in collaboration with the Army’s 52 Rashtriya Rifles (RR). The joint checkpoint established at Sher Colony Tarzoo served as the pivotal location for the apprehension. The suspects, identified as Manzoor Ahmad Bhat, son of Ab. Rashid Bhat, and Tanveer Ahmad Lone, son of Gh. Mohd Lone, both residents of Darnambal Tarzoo, were intercepted as they attempted to evade the authorities.
The suspects’ connections with the proscribed terror outfit LeT prompted the operation. During the subsequent search of their persons, law enforcement officers discovered two grenades, eight pistol rounds, and other items of potential incrimination. The recovery of such items highlights the vigilance and commitment of security forces to curbing terrorism and maintaining public safety.
A statement issued by the police confirmed, “During search, 02 Grenades and 8 Pistol rounds and other incriminating materials were recovered from their possession.” Following this significant development, a case has been registered under relevant sections of the law, denoted as FIR No. 78/2023, and an investigation has been set in motion.
The successful arrest of these LeT associates signifies a major stride in the ongoing efforts to thwart and counteract terrorist activities in the region.
