AAP Legislators Attack Modi Govt Over CAG Report in Delhi Assembly

AAP MLAs criticize Modi

Amidst the ongoing proceedings, AAP MLAs took aim at the Modi government, drawing attention to CAG reports that cast a shadow over government schemes. The controversy also touched upon alleged mismanagement and irregularities in the construction of the Dwarka Expressway.

As the dialogue unfolded, the session witnessed an eventful turn. BJP MLAs staged a walkout when their request to discuss a perceived connection between an AAP MLA and a gangster was not entertained by Deputy Speaker Rakhi Birla, who was presiding over the assembly.

The discussion commenced with AAP MLA Rituraj highlighting the discrepancies outlined in the CAG report concerning the Dwarka Expressway. He emphasized the significant surge in the cost per kilometer, from Rs 18 crore to Rs 250 crore, in a tone laced with irony, dubbing it a “gold road.” Rituraj called for a thorough inquiry by either the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) or the Enforcement Directorate, while expressing reservations about the potential outcomes.

The discourse continued with AAP MLA Durgesh Pathak expressing concerns about alleged scams in the construction of the expressway and the Ayushman Bharat Health scheme. Simultaneously, AAP MLA Praveen Kumar underscored the CAG report’s findings of “scams” in states governed by the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).

Returning to the assembly after their walkout, BJP leaders sought participation in the discussion. However, Deputy Speaker Rakhi Birla maintained the decorum of the assembly by refraining from permitting their input.

Cabinet Minister Imran Hussain contributed to the conversation, highlighting the discrepancies illuminated by the CAG report involving government agencies. He contrasted the Dwarka Expressway’s elevated construction costs with the cost-effective and efficient projects completed by the AAP-led Delhi government.

As the deliberations unfolded, BJP MLAs protested their exclusion and continued to raise slogans, reflecting the charged atmosphere within the assembly. The session epitomized the tension and differing viewpoints among political parties regarding the implications of the CAG report.
