In a somber culmination of events, a Ramban court has handed down a life imprisonment sentence to a man who poisoned his two-year-old son to death around a decade ago in Banihal. The District and Sessions Judge, R.S. Jasrotia, declared the verdict, finding Mohd Shafi guilty of the murder of his son, Mohd Suleman. This heart-wrenching incident transpired in the Ind village, casting a shadow of sorrow over the community.

The tragic episode unfolded when the young boy was discovered lifeless under suspicious circumstances at his residence on October 30, 2013. Subsequent investigation unraveled a grim revelation: Mohd Shafi had administered a fatal dose of poisonous insecticide to his own child, resulting in the untimely demise of the innocent toddler.

Immediate action followed, with the registration of a murder case on November 30, 2013. The ensuing chargesheet was presented against the accused in court on January 26, 2014. After an extensive legal process, Mohd Shafi was ultimately found guilty and convicted for his unfathomable crime.

The court’s ruling determined that the accused would endure life imprisonment and be fined Rs 10,000. In the event of non-payment, the verdict mandated an additional six months of rigorous imprisonment for Mohd Shafi.
