Amid Decreasing Numbers, Amarnath Yatra to Shift to Alternate-Day Schedule

Srinagar, Aug 12: In response to the declining number of pilgrims, the Shri Amarnathji Shrine Board (SASB) has announced a shift to an alternate-day schedule for the ongoing Amarnath Yatra. Since its commencement on July 1, more than 4.30 lakh Yatris have participated in the pilgrimage.

Reports indicate that on Friday, over 1,600 Yatris were able to have ‘Darshan’ within the cave shrine. Moreover, on Saturday, an escorted convoy transported another group of 915 pilgrims from the Bhagwati Nagar Yatri Niwas in Jammu to the valley.

Officials have provided a breakdown of this batch, revealing that out of the 915 Yatris, 736 are male, 151 are female, with 25 Sadhus and 3 Sadhvis among them.
