Srinagar, August 5: Following an encounter late on Friday, security forces in Kulgam have launched an extensive operation to track down a group of three to four terrorists hiding in the Halan Heights area. The encounter resulted in the unfortunate demise of three Indian Army soldiers.
To enhance the search operation’s efficiency, security forces have employed drones to scout the dense vegetation and undergrowth in the area. Additionally, the Indian Army’s elite Para Special Forces have been deployed for a thorough search and destroy mission, according to sources in the security forces.
The joint operation was initiated after receiving credible inputs about the presence of the group of terrorists in the region. The security forces are conducting intensified search operations and attempting to establish contact with the terrorists.
The confrontation unfolded when the terrorists opened fire on the security forces, who retaliated promptly, leading to an exchange of fire. Tragically, three security forces personnel sustained injuries during the encounter and succumbed to their injuries while undergoing treatment.
In response to the incident, the Srinagar-based Chinar Corps of the Army tweeted, “Operation Halan #Kulgam. On specific inputs regarding the presence of terrorists on higher reaches of Halan in Kulgam, operations launched by Security Forces on 04 Aug 23. In exchange of firing with terrorists, three personnel sustained injuries and later succumbed. Search operations are continuing.”
The situation remains tense as the search operations continue to apprehend the terrorists. The security forces are employing all available resources, including the latest technology such as drones, to ensure the terrorists are located and neutralized swiftly.
