Over 1,000 Pilgrims Embark on Amarnath Yatra from Jammu, Total Count Surpasses 397,000

JAMMU, Aug 1: More than 1,000 Amarnath pilgrims set off from the Bhagwati Nagar camp on Tuesday, commencing their journey to the 3,880-meter-high Amarnath cave shrine situated in Kashmir. The ongoing 62-day-long annual pilgrimage, which began on July 1, has seen a total of 3.97 lakh devotees paying their respects at the holy shrine. The pilgrimage will conclude on August 31.

Among the 1,006 pilgrims departing in this latest batch from the Bhagwati Nagar camp, 642 will be following the traditional 48-km Pahalgam track in Anantnag district, while 382 pilgrims will embark on the 14-km Baltal route in Ganderbal district, as per officials’ information.

The annual pilgrimage to the 3,888-meter-high cave shrine commenced simultaneously from the Pahalgam and Baltal tracks on July 1, marking the beginning of this revered religious journey.
