Jammu, July 25: A devastating landslide struck the picturesque district of Kishtwar in Jammu and Kashmir, resulting in a heart-wrenching incident that claimed one life and left another person critically injured. The unfortunate event unfolded when an earthmover, engaged in road excavation work in the Sumbal area of Chatroo, was hit by the powerful landslide on a fateful Tuesday.
According to reliable police sources, the incident occurred in the Sumbal Kuchaal area during the afternoon hours, causing the landslide’s immense force to push the earthmover into a deep gorge. The intensity of the disaster immediately prompted a swift response from a police team, along with local residents and volunteers from a non-governmental organization (NGO).
Through their combined efforts, the rescue teams managed to retrieve the lifeless body of one person from the debris while also saving the life of another who had sustained critical injuries during the tragic episode. The injured person, identified as Musharraf, son of Mohammad Akbar, and also a resident of Kuchal, Kishtwar, was quickly transported to the District Hospital Kishtwar for urgent medical attention.
In a poignant revelation, the deceased has been identified as Abid Hussain, son of Noor Husain, and a resident of Kuchal, Kishtwar. The entire region was left in shock and sorrow as news of the landslide’s impact spread rapidly.
