Supreme Court: ASI Survey of Gyanvapi Mosque Complex Delayed Until July 26

New Delhi, July 24: The Supreme Court has ruled that the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) survey of the Gyanvapi mosque complex will not take place until July 26. The court also stated that the order of the Allahabad High Court will not be enforced during this period, allowing the mosque committee to move the High Court.

The Supreme Court has directed the Gyanvapi mosque management committee to approach the Allahabad High Court to challenge the Varanasi district court’s order for the ASI survey of the mosque complex.

Vishnu Shankar Jain, representing the Hindu side in the Gyanvapi mosque case, commented on the Supreme Court’s order, stating, “The SC has passed a stay on the execution of the order of the Varanasi court on the survey of the Mosque complex to allow the Anjum to challenge the same before the High Court.”

Varanasi’s District Magistrate, after the Supreme Court’s ruling, asserted, “We will abide by the court order.”

Earlier today, an ASI team had arrived at the Gyanvapi Mosque in Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh, to conduct a scientific survey of the mosque complex, located adjacent to the Kashi Vishwanath temple.

On Friday, the Varanasi Court had issued directions for the ASI survey of the Gyanvapi mosque complex, except for the ‘Wazukhana’ area, which has been sealed.
