Srinagar, July 24: The government of Jammu and Kashmir has taken a significant step in optimizing forest management by ordering transfers and postings of forest officers across the region. This administrative move aims to bring fresh perspectives to the administration and ensure effective forest conservation and sustainable environmental practices.
According to an order issued by Dheeraj Gupta, Principal Secretary to the government, the reshuffling is conducted in the interest of efficient administration and to leverage the expertise of forest officers in diverse ecosystems. By rotating officers to different locations, the government intends to facilitate knowledge sharing and foster an integrated approach to forest management.
The key transfers include Roshan Jaggi, IFS (JK:1988), who currently serves as PCCF/Director, Social Forestry, J&K, and has been appointed as Principal Chief Conservator of Forests (Territorial) & HoFF, J&K. Similarly, Suresh Kumar Gupta, IFS (JK:1991), the present PCCF/Chief Wild Life Warden, J&K, is now assigned as PCCF/Director, Social Forestry, J&K, and will also hold the additional charge of Managing Director, Jammu and Kashmir Forest Development Corporation.
The government’s commitment to environmental conservation is further evident in the transfer of Sarvesh Rai, IFS (JK:1991), currently serving as PCCF/CEO, CAMPA, J&K, who will now assume the position of PCCF/Chief Wildlife Warden, J&K, replacing Sh. Suresh Kumar Gupta, IFS. Additionally, Asaf Mahmood, IFS (JK:1992), the present PCCF/Director, J&K FRI, who holds an additional charge of Director, Soil & Water Conservation, I&K, has been transferred and posted as PCCF/CEO, CAMPA, J&K, replacing Sh. Sarvesh Rai, IFS. He will continue holding the additional charge of the post of Director, Soil and Water Conservation, J&K.
This strategic move by the government provides forest officers with the opportunity to gain exposure to new challenges and diverse ecological factors affecting different regions. The cross-learning experience is expected to result in more informed decision-making and improved management strategies.
