Jammu-Srinagar National Highway Reopens to Traffic After Closure

JAMMU, July 20: The Jammu-Srinagar national highway has resumed traffic on Thursday following a day-long closure due to landslides and mudslides in Jammu and Kashmir’s Ramban district, as reported by officials.

The closure was caused by heavy rains triggering landslides and mudslides at multiple locations, blocking the highway in Ramban and Udhampur districts.

Fortunately, the highway is now open for two-way traffic, and all stranded vehicles have been successfully cleared, according to officials. Chief Secretary, Dr. Arun Kumar Mehta, conducted an assessment of the situation at the highway and stressed the importance of taking strict action against slow-moving vehicles and overloaded trucks.

Additionally, he urged the executing agencies to ensure the completion of the second tube of the Ramban flyover by August 15 and the Banihal bypass by the end of this year.
