Police Arrest Four Female Heroin Suppliers, Including Most Wanted Smuggler

Samba, July 8: In a significant breakthrough in the battle against drug trafficking, the police have apprehended four female heroin suppliers, including the notorious smuggler Saleema, also known as “Bachi,” from Balole in Bari Brahmana of Samba district.

With these arrests, the number of women involved in narco-trafficking apprehended in the district during the past six months has reached twelve.

The other arrested female narco-traders have been identified as Gunna Bibi from Sidhra in Jammu, Fullan Bibi from Chak Baggian Vijaypur in Samba district, and Salima Bibi from Rakh Barotian Vijaypur in Samba district, according to the police.

Under the supervision of Senior Superintendent of Police Benam Tosh, the police conducted raids and traps to apprehend those engaged in the narcotics trade.

The SSP stated that a total of fifty-eight (58) heroin suppliers, including twelve (12) women, have been arrested by the Samba Police in the past six months. The remaining heroin smugglers against whom FIRs have been registered will be apprehended soon.

Additionally, two hardcore heroin suppliers have been detained and placed in jail under the stringent Prevention of Illicit Traffic in Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (PIT NDPS) Act.

Providing details of the operation, the SSP mentioned that based on specific intelligence regarding the movement of the most wanted heroin supplier and her accomplices from Kathua to Samba, a joint police team from the District Anti-NDPS unit and Police Post Supwal, led by Incharge PSI Deepika Jalotra, set up a trap near NHW Supwal. They conducted thorough checks of all passenger and private vehicles, leading to the interception of four suspected women. The apprehended individuals included the most wanted heroin supplier “Bachi” from Balole and three other female smugglers, two of whom were involved in an attack on the police near Rakh Barotian Vijaypur. The accused were subsequently handed over to the concerned police stations, which promptly arrested them in accordance with the law.

“Bachi” from Balole had been a prime target due to her continuous involvement in heroin smuggling and supplying to the youth across several districts, including Samba, Jammu, Kathua, Udhampur, Reasi, Rajouri, Poonch, Ramban, Doda, and Kishtwar.

The arrest of “Bachi” is considered a major success for the police as she had evaded capture for an extended period and consistently managed to elude police during special checkpoints and raids. Recently, “Bachi” had changed her hideout from Balole Nallah to Sidhra in Jammu to evade intensified police operations around Balole Nallah, and she used different aliases while visiting Samba to supply heroin to the youth.
